NC State #15 in ESPN Power Rankings

It looks as if the NC State basketball team is starting to impress some of the analysts that have seen them in practice as ESPN just came out with their basketball preseason Power Rankings with the Wolfpack coming in at #15.

In the article, Jay Bilas gives us a best case/worst case scenario for the season.

According to Bilas, the best case for the Wolfpack is another Sweet 16 appearance. While he speaks briefly of the other players, Bilas states very clearly that ” Smith is why NC State is on this list”.

Even though the best case is the Pack only making the sweet 16, the worst case is only 2 games off with State still making it to the Big Dance and losing in the first round due to the lack of experience on the court.

While its good to see the Pack getting some good recognition as well as Dennis getting his usual hype, I think the ceiling is still much higher than people expect given the underrated (though admittedly unproven) talent around Smith. Either way, we will find out soon as the first exhibition is only a couple days away!
