Mav Rowan listed as day to day, Will Travel to Paradise Jam

Published

on

Coach Mark Gottfried weighed in on the Maverick Rowan situation yesterday. He said Rowan is currently day-to-day as he recovers from a concussion suffered in the season opener. Gott also mentioned that until he is 100%, he won’t take the floor. Rowan did not practice yesterday and is questionable for today’s practice (if the team decides to have one before they leave for the Virgin Islands.

The good news is that Rowan will travel with the team. We aren’t sure if he will play on Friday or at all in the weekend games.

We’ll miss his perimeter scoring but this is not as big a loss as not having Kapita. Ted seems like the only one on the front court that can handle some contact and still score in the paint.

I agree that the loss of Kapita will have a significant impact on this team, but if Rowan plays I still feel like this team has a chance in this tourney. I think this experience will really show our team, and I am confident that they will find a way to step up. We still need to worry about getting past Montana first, as they are a good team, but I hope that we can still find a way.

mc991 – Our bar can’t be Montana this season. With the amount of talent on this Wolfpack squad games like Montana need to be blowouts. And I believe Montana is 0-2 to start this season so no excuse for playing poorly against a team like that.

I like Mav but he’s a liability on perimeter defense and all it takes is one weak link out there and it leads to fouls on our bigs (with no Kapita).
