VIDEO: Cat Barber and Scott Wood Square off in the D-League

Two former NC State players faced each other last night in the NBA D-League as Cat Barber and the Delaware 87ers hosted Scott Wood and the Santa Cruz Warriors. We made sure to tune in so we could report back.

Cat Barber looked a lot like the Cat State fans remembered in his junior season He was electric, scoring 31 points and adding 5 steals on the night. One area where Barber showed improvement is from the three point line. He connected on 4 of 5 from distance. This is the area where Cat must show consistency if he is going to make the jump to the NBA. His skill set could be a welcome addition off the bench for a number of NBA teams.

As for Wood, he has been steadily improving and fits in seamlessly with Santa Cruz. On the night, he finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Everyone knows he can fill it up from the arc, however, recently he has been expanding his game. The D-League is all about improvement and Wood looks to be getting better in all areas. By cutting off the ball, Wood has been able to get into the paint and draw fouls, this has created easy points for himself and the Warriors.

Each night is an audition in the D-League, and if both Barber and Wood can keep having good nights, there is a good chance an NBA team will give them a look. It is obvious what Scott can bring to an NBA team, he has the height and the ability to shoot a high percentage from long range. As for Barber, he has the ability to score in bunches and every team likes a guy who can provide that off the bench! Hopefully, both players can get their shot in the NBA.
