Pack fans are really paying close attention to the offers that Kevin Keatts is throwing out there right now for a number of reasons. For one, State fans only have an idea of the type of program that Keatts wants to build. So far it’s all talk, but studying the type of players that he is currently offering can give you a hint of the style he wants to play.

This week he offered Jericole Hellems. This is a 6’6 small forward from St. Louis. He’s a three-star kid, but he’s got a crazy motor, he’s physical, loves to defend and is becoming a pretty decent scoring threat.

This is what we’d call the quintessential Keatts guy and likely the type of player that he will build this program’s foundation around. We don’t mean he’s targeting a guy like Hellems to be a super star, but it seems as if he checks off all the boxes as a kid that Keatts wants on his roster. Someone who is willing to sell out for defense, is not afraid to throw their weight around and someone who is a real team first type guy.

The more we look at these offers, the more it seems as if Keatts is gearing up to build somewhat of a fast-paced Virginia type team. A group of guys that some may consider ‘tweeners’ that make their living playing with hustle and heart. He will obviously try to sprinkle in the super-star or major scoring threat, but it’s becoming apparent the type of guys Keatts want to build this program with. Arkansas, Boston College and FSU are also involved here.

Take a look at his highlights and judge for yourself.
