A closer look at State’s top target in ’18, Jairus Hamilton

As we’ve continued to mention in our chat, we expect Kevin Keatts to focus on bringing in some major front court talent in 2018. Nearly the entire front court will be leaving. Abu, Freeman and Yurtseven will all be on their way out, leaving a ton of minutes for a couple newcomers to slot in the frontcourt. So far, it seems that the staff is really keying on landing Jairus Hamilton of Cannon School, outside Charlotte, NC.

Hamilton (6’8, SF) is ranked 41st in his class by ESPN. He is a left handed SF who thrives on physicality but also possesses elite scoring skills. This kid’s versatility is what has scouts drooling. He can take it to the rim and finish through contact, or spot up and knock down the open jumper. Early on he was a liability beyond the arc, but as of late he’s found consistency in his shot.

Hamilton’s stock is soaring and whoever lands him is going to have a real star on their hands. Word is that State sits in a good position with him, but UNC is hot on their heels (no pun intended). We’ll continue to update you on his recruitment as the season goes on.

Other schools that have offered include Arizona, Duke and Cal.

Take a closer look at this kids elite skillset.
