Carlos Rodon Picks up Much Needed Win Against Tribe

Former NC State pitcher Carlos Rodon picked up a much needed win last night against the 1st place Cleveland Indians, after picking up a loss in each of his last three starts. Rodon pitched 6.2 innings (marking the furthest he’s gone in a game this season), giving up 1 earned run, and striking out 9.

Over his first two seasons, Rodon has shown that he has electric stuff, but he has struggled with consistency. After missing nearly the first three months of the season, the results have been much of the same since he’s come back to the mound. He currently is 1-4 with a 5.23 ERA, but last nights win was a great step in turning the tide. This season’s ERA is much higher than his 3.75 in his rookie season, and his 4.04 last year, but expect the ERA to continue to make it’s way down as the former Wolfpacker continues to knock off the rust.

Over 2 seasons and some change, Rodon has shown to be a K-master, posting more strikeouts than innings pitched (347/335.1), but he has also shown a propensity to put players on base way to often (1.44 WHIP/.263 BA). Rodon is still young (24 years old), and will continue to mature, but I’m sure the White Sox are hoping to see more consistency in 2017, than in the previous two seasons. Hopefully last nights start was a step in the right direction.
