NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media after practice today. Here is a summary of what he talked about:

Isaiah Stallings (S) had a little bit of a hamstring injury today, and Doeren was hopeful to get him back quickly. Terronne Prescod (OG) had a stinger today, and Doeren hoped it wouldn’t be anything major.

Shawn Boone has been playing nickel some. Doeren pointed out that he played nickel as a sophomore, and that he has also played at strong and free safety, and they are just trying to figure out the best fit for everyone.

Doeren said what stands out to him about the Defensive Line is their work ethic. “As talented as they are, I think they work their butts off. The experience factor I think is huge. We are talking about guys that have played 4 years of college games coming up now. Then there is their size. They are all long and big guys. None of them are under 260 pounds. Most of them are 280-320. Mass kicks you know what.”

When asked how significant it is to have Airius Moore and Jerod Fernandez at linebacker behind the impressive defensive line, Doeren was quick to say how important it was to “have Riley Nicholson and Germaine Pratt behind them competing for their jobs. We’ve never had competition like this at linebacker. It’s exciting.”

“JuMichael Ramos (WR) practiced today. We are basically every other day with him so he has time to recover. He hasn’t played football in over a year. We don’t want to race him back in there, but slowly work him back into the fold. He’s got a great attitude.”

“C.J. Riley (WR) is doing well. He had a few nice catches the first day, and was a little quieter today. He’s running around…healthy…doing everything right.”
