The NC State Men’s Soccer team (1-1) was able to overcome a 2-goal deficit against William & Mary last night to push the contest into overtime, but failed to close the deal, losing the match 2-3. In the 75th minute, Junior Clayton Sparks scored off of an assist by Senior Ade Taiwo, and less than 4 minutes later Freshman Manny Perez scored his second goal of the season off of an assist yet again by Taiwo. Unfortunately William & Mary scored the winning strike a little over two minutes into overtime, to the approval of the home crowd.

William & Mary had 11 shots with 4 of them being shots on goal, compared to NC State’s 9 shots with 3 of them being on the goal.

NC State now returns to Raleigh for a three-match home stand. The Wolfpack will begin this stretch by hosting LIU Brooklyn at Dail Soccer Stadium on Friday, Sept. 1 at 4 p.m.
