Trea Turner Returning From DL Today

Former NC State shortstop Trea Turner has been on the disabled list since June 29th with a non-displaced fractured right wrist, but he will be back in action tonight in he Nationals contest against the Marlins.

Turner had posted a slash line of .279/.324/.422 with seven home runs and 35 stolen bases in 68 games prior to hitting the DL, but he was really starting to click at the plate in June, batting .327.

In his rehab assignment, Turner only hit 2 for 21, but with a wrist injury, that will be the last thing to come back. The good thing about Turner, is that he brings many gifts to the field beside batting. With that being said, Turner did crush a ball into the 5th row in center field yesterday in batting practice.

Trea earned 1st team All-American honors and 1st team All-ACC at NC State in 2013, and is the career stolen base leader in NC State history. The San Diego Padres selected Turner in the first round with the 13th overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft.
