VIDEO: Kevin Keatts showcasing his game in practice

Most college coaches wouldn’t dare pick up a ball in front of a camera for fear of embarrassing themselves in front of thousands of fans. In fact, it’s pretty risky. Back in the Herb Sendek days, there was a group of fans who constantly brought up the fact that Sendek never really played competitively in college and thus made the assumption that he couldn’t practice what he preached. Kevin Keatts, however, isn’t scared and he has no reason to be. Keatts showcased his game during practice and was caught on camera by Lennard Freeman.

Let’s breakdown Keatts moves. First off, thats a pretty quick first step for an old guy. He crosses over, drives it right, protects the ball, squares himself and nearly finishes at the rim. On the second move you have him backing down, creating contact and muscling his way in for the bucket. Probably should have used his left on that finish, but he got the job done. Lastly you have him draining a 3. Nice knee bend, good follow through, nothing but net.

Let’s see Roy or K do any of this in their 40s. Not a chance.
