Football Rosters Ranked by Recruiting Rankings: NC State 44th

247Sports took all of the college football teams in the FBS, and analyzed how talented each teams roster was, in accordance to each players recruting ranking when they entered college. According to their calculations, NC State’s team is the 44th most talented roster heading into the 2017 season, and they rank 9th in the ACC.

This tells me a couple of things.

Recruiting rankings aren’t everything. There are a lot of people for these recruting analysts to keep up with, and people like Nate Irving and Russell Wilson can enter college football as 2-star recruits.

Also, some of these players come in and aren’t as talented as some of the other players in the country, but with a great strength and conditioning program, and a great ability by a coaching staff to develop talent, 3 star players can become Preseason All-Americans…aka Bradley Chubb and Jaylen Samuels. You have to scroll down a little bit before you find either of their names. The same can be said for B.J. Hill and Tony Adams, who are sure to hear the names called next year at the 2018 NFL Draft.

With all that being said, this team hasn’t proven anything yet. They finished  the regular season last year with a 6-6 record. I don’t think this team is the 44th most talented team in the country. I think they are better than that, but true talent is revealed on the field.

The talent of a team is obviously not determined by recruiting rankings, but here’s to hoping NC State proves to have a team that shows itself to be much more talented than this ranking.

Here is a breakdown of how the NC State roster ranks from top to bottom:
