With Roster Spot on Line, Jacoby Brissett Plays the Best Game of his NFL Career

As we told you yesterday, Thursday night’s Patriots-Giants preseason game could very well be the last time you see former NC State QB Jacoby Brissett behind center for New England.

With rosters being set, and Tom Brady healthy, there was a good notion the Patriots would only decide to keep two QBs (Brady and Garoppolo)., leaving the former Wolfpacker on the outside looking in. NESN reported that the Pats would give Brissett one more long look in the final preseason game, basically making him play for his roster spot.

So what did Brissett do? He only put up the best single game numbers of his NFL career. Playing the full game and with his Patriots career on the line, Jacoby went nuts completing 28-39 passes for 338 yards and 4 TDs. He also added 20 yards rushing and another TD.

You really can’t ask for more than that if you’re Bill Bellichick. You challenged your quarterback, put his back against the wall, and he answered the bell. Whether or not this saved Brissett’s job is yet to be seen, but if this was a final test, he passed with flying colors. Check out his highlights below.
