Matt Dayes Makes the Browns Final Roster

Former NC State Running Back Matt Dayes has officially made the 53-man roster of the Cleveland Browns! I’m not sure what percentage of players that get drafted with the 2nd-to-last pick in the NFL Draft typically make the roster, but Dayes beat the odds.

In 4 preseason games, Dayes rushed 21 times for 68 yards and a touchdown, along with 10 receptions for 62 yards.

The Browns took Dayes with the second-to-last pick in the NFL Draft this summer, and he is out to prove that there were not 29 running backs better than him in the draft.

“I wasn’t really counting. I don’t know how I knew that number, but I just know the number to tell you the truth. I know for a fact there were not 29 running backs in that draft that are better than me.” (Link)

I don’t think that chip on Dayes shoulder was only to help drive him to make an NFL roster. I think it will continue to drive him until he leaves his mark on this league.
