Even though NC State fell to South Carolina 28-35 on Saturday in their season opener, a few Wolfpack players played so well that they find themselves at the top of a few ACC statistical categories.

After week 1, Wolfpack Quarterback Ryan Finley is 1st in the ACC in pass attempts, completions, and passing yards. Finley’s 45 completions are a new school record, and his 45 pass attempts ranks second.

NC State H-Back Jaylen Samuels’ 15 catches against South Carolina were the most by any player in the ACC in week 1. That number also tied Torry Holt’s record for the most catches in a single game in NC State history. Sophomore Kelvin Harmon’s 10 catches rank 3rd in the conference, and his 114 receiving yards rank 4th.

Wolfpack Defensive End Bradley Chubb and Nickelback Shawn Boone both tallied 2 tackles for loss against the Gamecocks, which currently is good for 3rd in the ACC.

Finally, NC State’s Nyheim Hines averaged averaged 13.3 yards per punt return, which ranks 3rd in the ACC after Week 1.
