NC State football has their home opener this weekend against Marshall While most focus will be on the football team, Kevin Keatts is making sure you don’t forget about basketball. The NC State head coach is using the excitement and energy of the opener to help convince some of the nations top recruits that NC State is the place for them.

This very well could be the most basketball talent (recruit wise) that NC State has ever had on campus at one particular time. 2018 5-star Keldon Johnson and 2018 4-star Manny Bates will both be on campus for official visits. For most schools, you’d consider that a pretty good weekend for visitors. But that’s not enough for Kevin Keatts. He also has local 2021 star Carson McCorkle (Raleigh) and 2021 SG Dontrez Syles (Kinston) both confirmed as unofficial visitors.

On top of that, there are rumors that 2019 Dennis Smith protege Joey Baker will be making the trip as an unofficial visitor as well. State is actively recruiting Baker and there is confirmation that the coaches will be at Trinity Christian to watch him, Greg Gantt and Au’Diese Toney this Tuesday.

At this point it’s just getting silly, but in case you missed it, Keatts also has 4-star SG Isaac Okoro (2019) and 4-star PG Shariffe Cooper (2020) coming on unofficial visits as well.

That’s 7, yes 7 kids on campus who are either 4 or 5 stars. We have been doing this site for almost 9 years and we’ve never seen this much talent in Raleigh on a single weekend. Everyone has been sold on Keatts vision for the program, but the question has been about whether or not he can bring in the recruits.

Well, if this weekend is any indication, Keatts will be stocking the Wolfpack with more talent than we’ve seen in a long, long time.
