Colts Players, Coaches & Legends Impressed With Jacoby Brissett

The end result was a loss, but Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano was really impressed with his starting Quarterback

His name is Jacoby Brissett.

Former NC State quarterback Jacoby Brissett was 1 of 4 former Wolfpack signal callers that started for an NFL team on Sunday. It was his 3rd career NFL start, and his first career start as a member of the Colts.

On September 2nd Jacoby Brissett was traded from the New England Patriots to the Indianapolis Colts. Brissett only had 14 days to learn a brand new playbook, and a new set of coaches and players. He was rushed into the starting job yesterday after Scott Tolzien’s atrocious performance in Week 1.

The Colts lost yesterday to the Cardinals 16-13 in overtime, and Brissett was only 20 of 37 for 216 yards, with no touchdowns, and an interception in overtime that ultimately led to the Cardinals winning field goal.

But Brissett’s teammates weren’t dissapointed with his performance. Neither was his coach. In fact, they were impressed.

“He’s got great poise,” Pagano said. “[He] made great decisions. Hung in there. He stands tall in the pocket. He’s tough as damn nails. He could extend some plays. It’s like he’s been there for a long, long time, which is encouraging.” (ESPN)

Count Colts Running Back Frank Gore as one of the impressed.

“He’s going to be just fine,” Gore said after the Colts’ 16-13 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals. “He played the type of confidence where you would have never guessed he’s only been here for a little bit.”(ESPN)

With maybe the most epic quote on Brissett’s debut, Colts other Running Back

“We were like, ‘Man, this m– f– is all right. We’re gonna be all right.'” (Link)

When legendary former Colts head coach Tony Dungy takes to Twitter to give you praise, you know you did alright.

Despite the loss yesterday Colts players were enthused by what Jacoby Brissett brought to the offense. He may be able to hold down the fort. (Link)

We don’t know when Andrew Luck will be back, but if Brissett can continue to make impressions like this, he will have good job security going forward.
