Trea Turner Breaks Nationals Stolen Base Record
Last night former NC State Shortstop Trea Turner stole two bases, bringing his season total to 42, which marks a new Washington Nationals record for stolen bases in a season. Alfonso Soriano stole 41 bases in 159 games in 2006, while Turner managed to pull off the feat in a mere 88 games.
Nationals manager Dusty Baker would love to see what Turner’s numbers would be if he had a full season of health.
“That tells me that I’d like to see him all year,” Nationals Manager Dusty Baker said. “He’d probably steal 70 or 80. It’s just a matter of him staying healthy.”(WP)
