If you want to watch NC State head coach Dave Doeren’s weekly press conference in full form where breaks down Syracuse, you can do so here, but if your just looking for the main points, look no further.

Syracuse Offense

  • Explosive offense
  • Thinks Eric Dungy is an excellent Quarterback. Remarkable. Unafraid. He has 5 rushing TD’s and 6 passing TD’s completing over 60%.
  • Averaging 34 points a game.
  • Returned 7 starters.
  • Two key receivers: Steve Ishmael had 45 receptions for 512 yards last season. Ervin Philips has 232 yards on 27 catches thus far this year (90 catches for 822 last year and 6 TD)
  • They play a lot of tempo…as fast as you can play. They are always in two-minute mode.
  • Can’t underestimate a team that is putting up 100 plays a game.

Syracuse Defense

  • Better than they were last year
  • 22nd in run defense
  • Linebackers Zaire Franklin and Parris Bennet are good players.
  • They pressure a lot, with a lot more inside and boundary pressure than last year.
  • 8 takeaways in the first 4 games

Mike Stevens and Dexter Wright’s Availability

  • Senior Cornerack Mike Stevens is supposed to play. He was supposed to play last week. Medically he’s fine. It’s just getting his stamina back.
  • Junior Safety Dexter Wright is questionable. He practiced last Tuesday, but couldn’t go Wednesday. He’s feeling better. It’s muscle tissue. Just a matter of how he recovers.
