Dave Doeren Talks Before Syracuse: Bulleted

NC State head coach Dave Doeren spoke with the media one final time this afternoon before Saturday’s matchup against Syracuse. Here’s a bulleted breakdown of what he had to say:

  • Syracuse Quarterback Eric Dungey really good player. Respects him a lot. Really competitive. Their leading rusher. Really accurate. High Football IQ.
  • Senior Cornerback Mike Stevens is playing. Junior Safety Dexter Wright is a game-time decision.
  • Syracuse Wide Receiver Steve Ishmael goes up and gets it. Runs good routes. Watched him for 4 years now. Good length and good timing with QB. In a system that gives him opportunities.
  • Syracuse’s receivers are good after contact…the thing that stood out most on film. They turn underneath passes into 1st downs. Must tackle them well in space and get hands up and tip some balls.

(PI’s Thought: FWIW LB Riley Nicholson has been out since getting hurt in the opener against South Carolina on the opening kickoff. After the game, Doeren initially thought he would only miss a week. Nicholson is a major loss, and would start at many teams in the ACC)
