NC State looked like a dominant force in the first half against Syracuse, but barely held on to defeat the Orangemen 33-25.

The Wolfpack scored on 4 out of their 5 offensive possessions in the first half (missing an easy field goal on the other one).

Carson Wise connected on field goals from 26 and 48, Reggie Gallaspy and Jaylen Samuels both picked up rushing touchdowns, and Ryan Finley threw a perfect over the shoulder touchdown pass to Stephen Louis.

The Wolfpack took a 26-7 lead into half time.

Syracuse came out and forced the NC State offense to punt on three consecutive drives, and put 10 points on the board.

Heading into the 4th quarter NC State led 26-17, but managed to extend the lead to 33-17 via a 1-yard touchdown run by Nyheim Hines with roughly 10 minutes left.

Syracuse made things stressful when Eric Dungey threw a beautiful 10-yard touchdown pass to Steve Ishmael, and followed it up by diving in for a 2-point conversion with 4:39 on the clock.

NC State needed to hold onto the ball for the rest of the clock, and they managed to do so, with Ryan Finley picking up a 1st down on 4th and inches with a QB sneak that was the nail in the coffin.
