Carlos Rodon undergoes surgery, out 6-8 months

As you remember, former NC State pitcher and current White Sox starter, Carlos Rodon, was shelved late in the season with what was a somewhat mysterious shoulder injury. Recently Rodon found out what the cause of that injury was.

According to the White Sox, “significant bursitis was found” in the shoulder, but there was no damage in Rodon’s rotator cuff or labrum.

That is kind of a good news/bad news situation. The good news is that he avoided a rotator cuff tear which would be bad for his long-term prognosis, the bad news is that he still needed surgery (which we successfully went through on Wednesday) and he will be forced to miss 6-8 months, cutting into his 2018 season.

We will keep you updated as Rodon goes through his recovery.
