The NC State vs. UNC Showdown For Payton Wilson Continues
4-Star 2018 Linebacker Payton Wilson (Orange High/Hillsborough/NC) is a UNC commit, but apparently NC State doesn’t really care.
Wilson committed to UNC on May 1st, but the NC State coaches and Wilson have been in contact quite a bit recently. He unofficially visited NC State last weekend, and took in the Wolfpack’s victory over Syracuse.
Last night, the Wolfpack remained in pursuit, with head coach Dave Doeren and defensive coordinator Dave Huxtable on the sideline at Wilson’s game last night. It’s kind of epic to see Dave and Dave sandwiching this UNC assistant coach that I don’t care to research to learn the name of.

UNC head coach Larry Fedora flew in on a helicopter to over-compensate.

Larry…the helicopter won’t erase the 1-4 record out of Wilson’s mind.
Through 5 games this season, Wilson has 76 tackles (15.2 per game), 16 tackles for loss and 8 sacks. Rivals ranks Wilson as the #133 player in 2018, the #7 Outside Linebacker in the nation, and the #7 player in the state of North Carolina.
Here are his Senior Highlights thus far.
