Bradley Chubb Still On Pace to Break Super Mario’s Records

Halfway through the 2017 season, Defensive End Bradley Chubb is on pace to break all of “Super” Mario Williams records in the NC State record books. In fact, he’s on pace to do so convincingly.

Chubb likely has 7 more games left, unless NC State manages to lose the rest of their regular season games and miss a bowl appearance. If he keeps his current pace, he will finish his career with 30 sacks and 64 tackles for loss. He’s also on pace to break Williams’ single season record for tackles for loss. In 2005, Williams racked up 27.5 tackles for loss. In 2017, Chubb is on pace to collect 30.

Now, you might be thinking that what “Super” Mario did was more impressive than Chubb, because he only played three years at NC State, before leaving early to be the #1 draft pick in the NFL.

Not so fast.

Chubb only played 17 snaps as a true freshman, and didn’t collect a single sack or tackle for loss. In all reality, at the end of this season, Chubb will have accomplished all his gaudy statistics in three years as well. If you were to line up their career snap counts, you would arguably be looking at roughly the same number.

Make sure to watch every minute of the next seven games. It’s history in the making. You might be watching the greatest Defensive End of all time at NC State: Bradley Chubb.
