BREAKING: NCAA Releasing UNC Infraction Report Tomorrow

Ok folks, it looks like it’s happening. I know we were hit with a false alarm or a late change of plans a week ago, but according to Inside Carolina, which is probably your most connected Tar Heel site on the web, the NCAA is finally releasing the infractions report tomorrow.

The funny thing is, reports were that UNC wanted the release moved from last week because they had a fundraiser the night it was going to come out. The NCAA allowed them to push it back, but in what seems to some sort of sick joke, they moved it to Friday the 13th, which happens to be the same day as ‘Late Night with Roy’, which also happens to be tomorrow (‘Late Night with Roy’ is the pep rally to open the basketball season.)

Is this coincidence or is this a sign that the NCAA isn’t playing around with UNC and has been toyed with long enough? I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but as an NC State fan, this very intriguing and has me on the edge of my seat.

It could end up as a slap on the wrist, but I think they are going to take a significant hit. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like the future of the NCAA rests on this decision and they aren’t going to fall on their sword for a single university. Even if it happens to be the boys in light blue.

If you’re wondering what happens after the punishment is released, Inside Carolina said that “According to NCAA bylaws, once UNC receives the infractions report, it has 15 calendar days to decide if it wants to appeal the ruling. The NCAA website indicates a 110-day timeline for the appeals process. The decision of the Infractions Appeals Committee is final.”
