NCAA rules Beverly Ineligible. NC State should Ignore, lawyer up.

The joke that is the NCAA has done it again. On the day they ruled that 30 years of fake classes warranted not even a slap on the wrist for UNC, Braxton Beverly has been ruled ineligible to play his freshman season at NC State….because he WENT to class.

If you’re unclear of what we mean, Beverly committed to Ohio State in early June. In late June, OSU fired head coach Thad Matta. Beverly decided to ask for his release, which he was granted. He then committed to NC State. The catch is that Beverly had already enrolled in summer classes at OSU. Now, the NCAA is trying to treat the situation like a ‘transfer,’ making him sit out a year.

NC State is going to ‘appeal’ the decision, but come on. At what point have we had enough? Forget the process altogether. It’s been proven to be flawed and the NCAA has now been proven to be powerless when challenged.

NC State should simply ignore the NCAA, play Beverly and lawyer up if they have to.

Are they really ready to allow no punishment for a team who for 30 years allowed players to NOT go to class and give a postseason ban for a team who played a kid who DID go to class?

Why not call their bluff and play hardball instead of allowing this worthless organization to keep making black and white rulings that punish kids for trying to do the RIGHT thing.

Anyways, here is what Braxton had to say:

“I’m devastated by this decision, it’s incredibly unfair. I appreciate NC State and the work being done here to appeal this decision. My hope is that it gets resolved and I can be eligible to play this season.”
