NC State Repping 1 of the Best Offensive Lines in the Nation

It’s often said that the game of football is won in the trenches.

Entering the season, the line that was getting the most buzz was NC State’s Defensive Line. They have done fairly well with the hype, ranking 1st in the ACC in rush defense, and 7th nationally.

But the unit in the trenches that is making an argument for being the most impressive is the Wolfpack Offensive Line.

NC State’s Offensive Line has only allowed quarterback Ryan Finley to be sacked 8 times in 7 games, which ranks 15th nationally. It’s worth noting that 6 of the 8 sacks came in the first two games of the season when starter Will Richardson was suspended, and redshirt freshmaen were starting in his place.

According to David Hale, NC State’s O-Line is the best in the nation at preventing their signal caller from being pressured.

Also, all of those sacks came in the Wolfpack’s 3 non-conference games. Once ACC play began, the lights turned on for the “Band of Brothers.” The Wolfpack Offensive Line hasn’t allowed a sack in 4 straight ACC games.

Four. Straight. Games.

I can’t prove it with statistics, but the last four games have to be one of the best stretches of play by an NC State Offensive Line in the history of the program.
