4 Star LB Keshon Artis Not Taking Official Visit to NC State

4-star 2018 linebacker Keshon Artis (6’0”/230) has been a very high priority for NC State for quite some time, and he was scheduled to take an official visit to Raleigh this weekend, but that is no longer happening.

Artis’ tweet definitely has a frustrated tone to it. He emphasizes that this was not his doing, and drops the peace sign.

Less than two weeks ago, Artis included NC State in his Top 3, alongside Virginia Tech and Central Florida, and scheduled official visits to all three schools.

I reached out to Artis earlier this week, and he informed me that the NC State coaching staff didn’t want him to come down for his official visit, because they were going to be hosting another 4-star linebacker on an official visit.

Artis did not say who the linebacker was by name, but it’s not difficult to figure out who he was referencing. Payton Wilson is a 4-Star linebacker who the Wolfpack is looking to flip from a UNC commitment, and he is taking an official visit this weekend.

While NC State has been in a good position with Artis for some time, it might have been difficult to get him out of his home state of Virginia. Maybe the Wolfpack feels like they have a much better chance of landing Wilson, who plays right down the road at Orange High School.
