NC State Record Watch Heading Into Clemson

This Saturday many Wolfpack players will have the opportunity to move up the NC State record books against Clemson. Here are my predictions.

NC State has a minimum of 5 more games left, but I would be shocked if Jaylen Samuels picks up 7 more rushing touchdowns to catch Ray Robinson in 5th. If Ryan Finley picks up his average of 272 passing yards, he will pass Jacoby Brissett and Shane Montgomery to move into 6th all-time.

Finley should at least throw one touchdown this week to tie Shane Montgomery in 7th place, if not pass him.

It will probably take Finley two more games to catch Terry Harvey in 6th place in Total Offense.

Jaylen Samuels is averaging 7 receptions a game, and is 9 receptions behind Holt in 2nd place, but it’s worth noting that JaySam has caught more than 9 catches on two occasions this year (15 – South Carolina & 12 – Florida St.). Samuels is still on pace to break Cotchery’s record of 200 career catches (217 to be exact) by seasons end. Finally, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Jaylen pick up a touchdown reception. Picking up two, which is what he needs to catch Jarvis Williams in 3rd place, might be asking a lot against a defense that averages giving up only one touchdown per week.

Harmon is averaging 114 yards over the past three games, and could pick up another 100-yard performance to tie Nas Worthen for 5th all-time, but it won’t be easy against the Clemson secondary.

Jaylen Samuels only needs one touchdown to tie Stan Fritts for 2nd all-time in school history. I’m calling it. He’ll do it. He has had a knack for finding the end zone against Clemson throughout his career.

Dear Lord, I hope AJ Cole doesn’t punt the ball 7 times this weekend.

With Nyheim Hines healthy, it’s almost a guarantee that he will pick up more than 20 yards tomorrow, passing Joe McIntosh for 6th place all-time in all-purpose yards.
