NC State Can Still Win the Most ACC Games in School History

Earlier this week I made the case that NC State’s football team still has SO MUCH to play for in 2017, but after digging some more, I have more to say.

This Saturday they can pick up their 5th ACC win of the season. Since the creation of the ACC in 1953, only 15 NC State teams have picked up 5 conference wins in a season.

1998 – 5-3 – 4th
1994 – 6-2 – 2nd
1992 – 6-2 – 2nd
1991 – 5-2 – 2nd
1986 – 5-2 – 2nd (tie)
1979 – 5-1 – 1st
1973 – 6-0 – 1st
1968 – 6-1 – 1st
1967 – 5-1 – 2nd
1966 – 5-2 – 2nd
1964 – 5-2 – 1st
1963 – 6-1 – 1st (tie)
1957 – 5-0-1 – 1st

If NC State wins 2 out of the next three games, they will finish with 6 ACC wins, which has only been done 5 times before.

If the Wolfpack wins the next three conference games, which on paper they should, they will win 7 games in ACC play, which has never been done in the history of the school.
