NC State vs Boston College: A Statistical Comparison

on

NC State and Boston College kickoff in a little less than an hour, but before they do, here’s a statistical comparison.

  •  Boston College is the sixth best school in the country at intercepting the football. Fortunately, NC State ranks fifth in the nation at not throwing interceptions, throwing only three all season, which ranks fifth nationally. If Ryan Finley can take care of the football, it will take away a tremendous strength of the Golden Eagles’ ability to keep their opponents off the scoreboard.
  • Expect NC State to run, and run often. Boston College ranks 111th in the NCAA at Run Defense, giving up a gaudy 206.2 yards per game. Nyheim Hines is healthier this week, and that doesn’t bode well for the Golden Eagles.
  • NC State is supposed to be great at stopping the run, but they haven’t been as good as advertised. Josh Adams of Notre Dame ran all over NC State, and Clemson put 224 rushing yards in them last week as well. Boston College’s AJ Dillon and crew are averaging 199 yards rushing per game, which will be another strong challenge to the NC State front 7.
  • BC is only allowing opponents to score 24.8 points per game, but I don’t think they can contain the Wolfpack’s high powered offense that put 31 on an even better Clemson defense.
