Could Jaylen Samuels get an award for top Tight End in the nation?
Jaylen Samuels isn’t really a tight end. I mean, he sort of is, but then again, he’s not. That’s what makes it so interesting that he was listed as a semifinalist for the John Mackey award.
Congrats to @CanesFootball‘s Christopher Herndon IV, @PackFootball‘s Jaylen Samuels and @WakeFB‘s Cam Serigne for being selected as semifinalists for the 2017 John Mackey Award. #ACCFootball

The award goes to the nation’s top tight end, and since that is what NC State has officially listed Samuels as, he is eligible.
I guess it’s only fair, right? If Jaylen Samuels ever wants to win an award, he’s going to have to be ok with being categorized, even though that kind of goes against his entire style of play.
“Samuels joins Mark Andrews (Jr., Oklahoma), Adam Breneman (Sr., Massachusetts), Troy Fumagalli (Sr., Wisconsin), Mike Gesicki (Sr., Penn State), Chris Herndon (Sr. Miami,), Hayden Hurst (Jr., South Carolina, JR) and Cam Serigne (Sr., Wake Forest) on the list of semi-finalists. The finalists will be announced on Nov. 20 and the winner will be presented live at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 7. (NC State)”
