Fear not Wolfpack fans, kicking help is on the way.

Chris Dunn, who committed in 2016, could be NC State’s answer to their two years of kicking woes.

Just last night, Dunn nailed a North Davidson school record 56-yard field goal at the end of the first half (video above). The kid might be a two-star with some networks, but kicking guru Chris Sailer thinks differently, rating him a 5-star and saying this:

Chris is simply an outstanding kicker. He has a strong leg and kicks with excellent technique and consistency. Field goals are smooth and accurate off the ground. He gets great height on his ball and has big range. A fierce competitor that does his best under pressure. Kickoffs are strong and consistent, D1 ready. Also a very capable punter. One of the most determined competitors we have every had. Chris kicks with extreme confidence. A great looking athlete with a bright future. Chris is a pleasure to work with. He is a scholarship pick in this class without a doubt. Big time prospect. OFFER NOW!!! Huge pick up for NC State.

Confidence is key with kickers and NC State has learned that the hard way. Dunn, however, doesn’t lack at all in that area. Just listen to what his coach had to say after the game.

“We’re saying ‘let’s punt this,’ and Christopher looks at me, gives me the thumbs up and says “We’re good,’” Flynn said. “Great job by him, man. That’s unbelievable. Great job to the guys, snap, hold and all that.”

Dunn also added…

“This week, we were good from 62 in practice,” Dunn said. “The endless reps that we’ve taken have just built up all the confidence. … Five yards didn’t freak me out. It was just another kick.”

This kid can’t get to Raleigh soon enough.
