NC State running back 2018 commit Ricky Person of Heritage High School (Wake Forest, NC) was 1 of 16 players nominated today for the U.S. Army National Player of the Year Award. A quarter of the players nominated were from the state of North Carolina.

Person has rushed for 2,163 yards and 37 touchdowns, averaging 8.9 yards per carry. He also has 17 receptions for 234 yards and three touchdowns.

The list will be trimmed to 6 on November 28, and the winner will be announced on January 5th.

It’s also worth noting that linebacker Payton Wilson, who NC State is actively trying to flip from a UNC commitment, was nominated as well for what he accomplished in 8 games before tearing his acl. Pretty impressive.
