NC State Falls to Northern Iowa 60-64 in an Ugly Loss

NC State’s performance against Northern Iowa today was the polar opposite of last nights heroics against #2 Arizona.

From beginning, to the end, NC State was off. They were emotionally and physically not there.

The Wolfpack shot poorly (34.4%).

They turned the ball over more than Northern Iowa (14-11).

They put Northern Iowa on the free throw line way too much (22 attempts compared to NC State’s 13).

NC State continually took ill advised shots. They seemed to continually be in a rush.

The Wolfpack’s big men were the only aspect of their offensive attack that worked, and they simply didn’t feed the post enough. Omer Yurtseven was phenomenal. He had 17 points (7-13 FG/2-3 3PT) and 13 rebounds. Abu was 2-4 from the field and Lennard Freeman was 2-2.

Instead, NC State settled for rushed shots from the perimeter.

The Wolfpack needs to go clear their minds of this mess of a game and regroup if they want to leave the Bahama’s with their heads held high. They have the chance to leave with a victory over Tennessee, and the two will tipoff tomorrow at 2:30pm.
