The first (of three) Fall Rankings are out for the Learfield Director’s Cup, and NC State ranks 11th, and this ranking doesn’t include football, Men’s & Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball.

Since the 1993-94 season, the Director’s Cup has been awarded annually to the Nations Best Athletic program.

NC State Athletic Director Debbie Yow came here to turn the Wolfpack into a Top-25 Athletic program, and this year might be the year. Last season NC State Finished 29th in the Director’s Cup. The year before Yow arrived (09-10), NC State’s Athletic Program was ranked 89th in the nation.

09-10: 89th
Debbie Yow takes over as Athletic Director
10-11: 67th
11-12: 37th
12-13: 34th
13-14: 41st
14-15: 27th
15-16: 32nd
16-17: 29th

At the end of the Fall period last year, NC State ranked 11th. Last season, the Wolfpack didn’t pick up any points for Men’s Soccer and Women’s Volleyball, but that will not be the case this year, with both advancing to the NCAA tournament.

This could be the best Fall sports season at NC State since the beginning of the Director’s Cup.
