Kevin Keatts talked to the media after the team’s 103-71 win over SC State. You can watch the full presser above or just check out the cliff notes below.

  • Had a scary situation and thankful for the EMS.The young man is doing better. It puts things in perspective. Basketball at that time becomes secondary.
  • Guys played well, especially offensively. 41 made FGs and assisted on 31 of them. That is a PNC record.
  • Great contributions from everyone. Omer and Lennard were very good. Told the team at halftime to get these guys the basketball.
  • Excited for a chance to get a little break and guys need to take care of the reason they are here. Exams and academics.
  • Team was really bothered when they went into the lockerroom after SC player collapsed. Could be you or your teammate, so it puts things in perspective.
  • The decision to continue to play came down to SC State. Once they saw their teammate doing better they were ok with playing.
  • Has never been a part of a situation quite like this one, but during elite 8 at Louisville was there when Kevin Ware broke his leg in a gruesome injury.
  • Assistant coaches swear team is getting close to the system they want to run, but Keatts not satisfied. Thinks they are a long way off. Not fast-breaking enough. Defensively there are too many breakdowns.
  • Took a lot of yelling yesterday (says he’s joking..I doubt he is) to get guys to come out that intense. Thought the last 3 games at PNC the team did not come out ready.
  • Wanted to go inside early to take pressure off the guards.
  • Happy with Dorn’s rebounding. Has really challenged him and he has produced.
  • Yurtseven is getting better. He’s a student of the game. Understanding how to score and how to stay on the floor. Happy with his play.
  • Team needs extra time. Needs time to get healthy. Probably taking off the next few days then getting back in the gym to work on ‘us’, then work some on the next opponent for Saturday.
  • Braxton’s struggles were because he hadn’t played. He’s starting to play well.
