Kyrie Irving calls playing against Dennis Smith Jr “Awesome”
Dennis Smith Jr is currently out for a few games with a strained hip, but a few days ago he matched up against, arguably, the best PG in the NBA, Kyrie Irving.
How did he fare?
He didn’t have his best game, but still did manage 12 points and 6 boards against Irving. Meanwhile, Kyrie put up 25 points and 5 assists.
The matchup was one of major interest to anyone really following the NBA. The current king vs the future king of the point guard position. While neither guy really dominated the other there was a little drama.

Irving bumped Smith on the drive and Smith bodied him back. After the foul call, Smith turned and had some choice words for Irving.
After the game however, Kyrie wasn’t holding any grudges. In fact, he called playing against him ‘awesome,’
More Kyrie on Smith: “I’m just an avid YouTube watcher, an avid studier of people’s games. So I’ve been watching him since he was in high school when he was doing windmills on his AAU team in North Carolina…. And to play against him now as a 25-year-old … is awesome. “
