Braxton Beverly is leading the ACC in Assist-to-Turnover Ratio

The NCAA’s decision to rule Braxton Beverly eligible has been huge for NC State.

The 6’0 freshman’s 8.8 points and 3.3 assists per game might not seem like game-changing numbers, but over the past two games, he has 21 points and 16 assists while only turning it over 2 times.

Beverly is starting to acclimate to the college game. He’s providing the Pack with a floor leader, a guy who understands pace and flow, and someone who is maximizing possessions.

Nothing speaks to that more than the fact that Beverly is now leading the ACC in assist-to-turnover ratio.

That mark of 3.71 is also good for 14th in the entire nation. As far as the ACC is concerned, the only guys close right now are Duke’s Trevon Duval (2.86), Curtis Haywood II (2.80) and Grayson Allen (2.79).

The key for the Wolfpack this season is to turn over their opponents at a high rate and to protect the basketball on the offensive end. Beverly may not be leading the team in deflection and is only averaging 1 steal per game, but on the offensive end, he’s paying huge dividends.

The crazy thing is that he’s still just a freshman with only 8 games under his belt. The more he plays the better he’ll get. For instance, over his first 6 games, Beverly shot 15-50 (30%). Over his past 2? He’s 7-15 for an impressive 47% from the floor.
