NC State’s Athletic Department is in a better place now, than it was at this point last year.

You might not know that by comparing the 2nd Fall Director’s Cup standings that were released today, with the 2nd Fall rankings of last year. The Director’s Cup is annually awarded to the nations best Athletic Program.

Last year at this time NC State ranked 8th nationally.

In the standings that were released today, NC State ranks 11th.

Despite being 3 spots back from where they were last year, they have 6.5 more points than they did last year, which shows the improvement.

NC State’s Women’s Cross Country team had another great year, winning their 23rd ACC championship, but finished with with 9.5 less points.

The Men’s Cross Country Team finished with 5 more points this year.

The Women’s Soccer team arguably had their best season since 1995, but technically finished with 14 less points this year.

Where NC State made the biggest jump this year was in Men’s Soccer. Last year they didn’t place high enough to record a single point, but this year they notched 25.

NC State finished 12th in the Final Fall Standings last year, but expect them to improve on that come January, when Football and Women’s Volleyball is included. Football looks to finish the season ranked in the Top 25 for the 1st time since 2002, and Women’s Volleyball had their best season in school history.

The Wolfpack is moving on up folks.
