4-star Running Back Ricky Person (6’2″/207) has officially signed his letter of intent.

Person (Heritage/Wake Forest, NC) was the 3rd player to join NC State’s 2018 football recruiting class, committing to run with the Wolfpack on January 18th of this year. At one point, Duke led for Person, but in October of last year, it became a two-team race, and NC State came out on top. NC State almost lost the chance to get Person, when Wolfpack Assistant Coach Des Kitchings initially took the head coaching job at Furman, before deciding to stay in Raleigh.

“I’ve always loved State anyways; they’ve been recruiting me for two years,” Person said. “They’re like family to me anyway because I also have family that goes to State.” (HighSchoolOT)

Person is the #33 overall player in 2018 according to 247Sports, and the #2 running back in the nation. He will be playing in the U.S. Army All-American game on January 6th on NBC.

In his Senior season, Person rushed for 2,230 yards (8.5 yards per carry) and 38 touchdowns. He also had 21 receptions for 279 yards and three more touchdowns.

Person just earned the Most Outstanding Offensive Player in the Shrine Bowl this past weekend. He accumulated 203 all purpose yards, and even managed to complete his one pass attempt for 14 yards. The Heritage High running back rushed the ball 15 times for 180 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 12 yards per carry.
