In the midst of a season where NC State’s biggest struggle is shooting the 3, they just set a school record for most 3s in a single game.

The Pack hit 19 3-pointers en route to a 116-64 win over Jacksonville. They got 7 from Al Freeman, 6 from Sam Hunt, and 5 from Braxton Beverly.

Here are the notes on the victory:

  • We predicted an Al Freeman breakout this game, and we got it. The 5th year senior went 8-15 from the floor and 7-11 from 3. He added 5 rebound and 4 assists. He finally found his shooting touch after a cold streak that had him shooting 25% from 3pt range on the season. A hot shooting Freeman would be huge for the Wolfpack.
  • Beverly notched his first double-double of the season. 15 points and 11 assists. He also found his shooting touch, going 5-9 from the field (all 3s).
  • Hunt dropped 20 points on 6-9 shooting from 3.
  • NC State had 28 assists on 42 made FGs, they shot 57.5% from the floor and a sizzling 50% from 3pt range
  • The Pack held Jacksonville to 27.8% from 3, they crushed them on the boards 43-29, racked up 11 steals and they forced 19 turnovers
  • As far as the eye test goes, NC State passed it in this one .They defended well. They rebounded well. They were strong on the boards and showed great energy over nearly the full 40 minutes. Although Jacksonville was a pretty weak opponent, this was possibly the best all-around performance we’ve seen this season.
  • Next up is the ACC opener @ Clemson next Saturday (12/30).
