Previewing Arizona State’s Offense

The Sun Devils offense can put points on the board.

Arizona St.’s offense is led by RS Junior quarterback Manny Wilkins. When he actually has time to throw the ball, he has been extremely effective. Through 12 games, he has passed for 2,918 yards (63.5%), 17 touchdowns and five interceptions. Wilkins can also hurt you with his legs too, rushing for 6 touchdowns this season. Wilkins was an All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention.

Senior running back Demario Richard has been en fuego the past 4 games, averaging 149.5 rushing yards per game and 7 yards per carry. He’s just shy of 1,000 yards on the year, entering the game with 977 rushing yards, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. Fortunately, stopping the run is what NC State’s defense does best, finishing the regular season ranked 27th nationally in rush defense. Richard was an All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention.

Arizona St.’s receiving corps is the most impressive aspect of their offense in my opinion. They are led by Sophomore wide receiver  N’Keal Harry, who has a collected a gaudy 73 receptions, for 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns. Harry was a 1st Team All-Pac 12 selection. Following Harry is Sophomore wide receiver Kyle Williams, who has 59 receptions for 678 yards and 5 touchdowns. Finally, RS Junior wide receiver Jalen Harvey has 33 receptions for 558 yards. Three receivers with over 550 receiving yards is impressive to say the least. NC State’s pass defense ranks 101st in the nation in pass defense, and the Wolfpack secondary could be in a world of trouble if they don’t get to Wilkins. Fortunately, the Sun Devils offensive line has surrendered 38 sacks thus far in 2017. They give up a sack every 9.18% pass plays, ranking 113th in the nation. It doesn’t look like Bradley Chubb will play much, if at all, so Darian Roseboro and Kentavius Street will have to do their best Chubb impression.
