NC State’s Kevin Keatts Meets with Media Before Wake: BULLETED

Yesterday NC State head coach Kevin Keatts talked with the media heading into the Wake Forest game tomorrow night. If you want to watch it, you can do so here, but here’s a BULLETED breakdown:

  • Tough loss to Virginia on the road. Had some good looks that didn’t go down. If you don’t make shots against them, they make you pay. We never got into a flow. Thought our guys competed all the way to the end.
  • We don’t talk about teams being ranked or not, because we have great respect for all the teams in the ACC.
  • Markell being back gives us a chance to rest some guys. Braxton Beverly and Al Freeman have been playing a lot of minutes, and would love to give them rest with Johnson back. Plan on using him some at the one and the two spot.
  • Wake Forest’s Doral Moore is good. He’s massive. Have to keep him off the offensive glass. Tough to guard when he gets two feet in the paint, because he dunks everything. Changes peoples shots on defense.
  • You don’t have to encourage kids today to shoot threes. If you allowed every kid to shoot threes, they would.
  • We’re starting to trust in Omer Yurtseven. He’s a different kid than last year. Guards have to become comfortable with their post guys. Our guys feel comfortable with him. He has demonstrated he can score inside and out, and they are OK with giving him the ball.
