Former NC State All-American Offensive Lineman Joe Thuney advanced to his second straight Super Bowl yesterday, with the Patriots defeating the Jaguars 24-20 in the AFC Championship Game.

Not bad for a player in only his second season, who has started in every game of his NFL career.

Thuney is only the 9th former NC State player to go on to play in multiple Super Bowls (10th if you count Bill Cowher coaching in 2).

NC State Players With 2 Super Bowl Appearances

Jim Ritcher – 4
Mike Cofer – 2

Perry Williams – 2
Mike Jones – 2
Torry Holt – 2
Russell Wilson – 2
J.R. Sweezy – 2
Steven Hauschka – 2
Joe Thuney – 2
(Bill Cowher – 2 – as a head coach)

Thuney is one of 14 former NC State players to go on to win a Super Bowl (15 including Cowher as a Coach).
