Former NC State Tight End David Grinnage has been on the Jaguars practice squad for the past two seasons, and his agent shared on Twitter yesterday that Jacksonville has signed him to a new 2-year deal.

(P.S. Christian Kranz, Grinnage’s agent, is an NC State alum)

Don’t look down on a player because they are on practice squad for an NFL team. It’s a lucrative position playing professional football.

A team is allowed to only have 10 players on their practice squad, and each player is paid a minimum of $7,200 a week (It goes up to $7,600 a week next season.)

This doesn’t guarantee Grinnage a spot on the 53-man roster next Fall, but it shows that the organization wants to continue developing him and sees a future with Grinnage. If he were to make the 53-man roster next season, he would be guaranteed the league minimum salary, which will be $480,000.

In 3 seasons at NC State, Grinnage had 67 receptions for 798 and 9 touchdowns.
