NC State is 12th in Andy Katz’s Power 36

During selection week in March, the Division I Men’s Basketball Committee will select the 36 best at-large schools, to join the 32 automatic qualifiers. Each week Andy Katz will be updating his Power 36 list of schools, which will be based on results to date.

Today (Feb 5) he updated his rankings, and NC State moved up 4 spots to #12.

12. NC State (16): Yes, I’m this high on the Wolfpack. And why not? NC State has some of the best wins in the ACC outside of Virginia. The Wolfpack continue to get great shelf life out of the neutral-court win over Arizona. The 18-point win over Notre Dame is the type of game the Wolfpack wouldn’t have won in the past few seasons. They were coming off the high of the road win at UNC. But they didn’t fall flat. Well, this week will be another test with a road game at Virginia Tech before hosting UNC in going for the season sweep. (Katz)

Katz ranks NC State only behind Virginia in the ACC. Yes, that’s right. He has the Wolfpack ahead of Duke, UNC, Clemson, Miami and Florida State.
