Kevin Keatts met with the media after his team’s 74-70 road win over Syracuse. Above is the full video and below is the summary of what he had to say:

  • Getting a road win is huge. Credit Syracuse, their zone causes tons of problems.
  • Thought team did a great job in the second half finding gaps in the zone and making plays.
  • Guys made huge shots. Hunt came off the bench and hit big 3s. Markell made a huge 3 at the end and Omer made a big game-winning free throw.
  • Lucky to get out with a win. Team got frustrated at times and put them on the line a lot but they fought through and stayed positive.
  • Gave Syracuse a lot of different looks to move them around a lot. Screened the zone, got it to the middle and made them rotate to the corners.
  • Too early to talk about NCAAs but this was a big road win against a very good basketball team.
  • Able to get to the basket a lot. Syracuse was playing a lot of lineups that maybe have not played together much.
  • When Markell went out with 4 fouls, team talked about staying the course and trusting defense.  Guys had to step up big and they did. Lavar Batts played great minutes.
  • Brissett played well, was very aggressive
  • Best team win of the season. Everyone who came in had to contribute in some way. When guys got in foul trouble the guys that came in played well. Everyone that came in affected the game in a positive way.
  • Thought the pace of play may have affected Syracuse. They made took a few quick shots and made some uncharacteristic passes.
  • Not happy with the 19 turnovers, but really didn’t know it was that many during the game. Even with 19 turnovers and Syracuse with 15, happy to get out with a win.
  • Glad Markell took that last 3. He usually gives that up, but happy that he rose up and hit that shot. Also talked before the play that if there was a miss then go back and play defense. It was a tie game, on the road, had to get a stop and willing to go into overtime if need be.
  • There was no drawn up play on the Markell 3. The play was to create movement and find the open man.
