NC State takes care of business, downs BC 82-66

NC State did what they needed to do and came out with an 82-66 win over Boston College.

While State played well in spurts, this is likely a game that Kevin Keatts isn’t completely pleased with. The Wolfpack went scoreless for nearly 7 minutes to start the game. They turned it over 16 times and were out-rebounded on the offensive glass 20-4.

Despite those numbers, they held the ACC’s second-leading scorer, Jerome Robinson to 4-20 shooting for 8 points and BC only shot 38% from the floor on the night. They also, once again, ran shooters off the 3 point line, leading to a dismal 4-25 from long range from a team that ranks 2nd in the ACC in 3’s made.

Al Freeman led the way for State, scoring 20 points on 6-14 shooting and Braxton Beverly pitched in 16 points (5-6 from 3). The Pack shot over 50% once again, coming in at 56% and knocking down 52% from 3pt range. Pretty insane numbers when you realize they started off the game 0-8. But when you follow that up with 12 straight made FGs, it makes sense.

This wasn’t pretty at times and NC State didn’t seem all that focused out of the gate, but it was a big win. This puts the Pack at 19-9 on the season and 9-6 in the ACC.

Next up is Florida State on Sunday at 6:00pm on ESPNU.
