Markell Johnson’s is Having the Best Season at PG at NC State in Decades

Markell Johnson is having one of the best seasons by a point guard in NC State history. Currently, Johnson is averaging 7.7 assists-per-game, which ranks in the Top-5 in NC State history for assists-per-game in a single season.

1) Chris Corchiani – 9.6 – 1990-91
2) Chris Corchiani – 8.6 – 1988-89
3) Chris Corchiani – 7.9 – 1989-90
4) Markell Johnson – 7.7 – 2017-18 (CURRENTLY)
4) Sidney Lowe – 7.7 – 1980-81

Perspective, if Johnson finishes the season with an average of over 7 assists (which is all but guaranteed), he will be only the third player in NC State history to do so. If he can beat out Lowe, he will do something that only Chris Corchiani has done. Even if he stays tied with Lowe, Johnson is doing something that hasn’t been done in 37 years.

Also, Johnson is only a Sophomore.

Enjoy yourself Wolfpack fans! You are watching the best point guard at NC State in decades.
