Darius Hicks will transfer from NC State, Pack now even on Scholarships

According to multiple reports, sophomore big man, Darius Hicks, is transferring from NC State

Hicks is a 6’7 forward out of Quitman, MS who never really found his niche over his first two seasons. He was getting about 8 minutes per game, scoring 4 points and grabbing 3 rebounds before a knee injury ended his season.

With Keatts bringing in a class of Ian Steere (4-star forward) Manny Bates (4-star forward) and Derek Funderburk (4-star forward), the NC State frontcourt is already getting crowded. And that’s assuming sophomore Omer Yurtseven elects to head to the NBA draft.

This move means NC State is now back to even with their scholarships. When PG Blake Harris announced his transfer to NC State, it put the Pack over by one and left many looking around and who was going to be the odd man out.

NC State State is still in the mix for 5-star SG Anfernee Simons and there has been some talk that UNCW big man Davonte Cacok could be a potential grad transfer option. For those guys to be in play, NC State would have to lose another player off of this year’s roster, but with Yurtseven trending upward in the eyes of NBA scouts, he could end up being that player.

Hicks has not announced where he’s headed, but we’ll keep you updated with that information when it breaks.
